Siyempre, sandamakmak na katauhan na naman ang tila nagcamping na ata nung gabi pa lamang para lang makapila ng maaga. Take note, District 2 pa lamang yun, ay naka ilang kilometro na ata agad ang nakaabang, nakailang ulit na u-turn at ikot ang pila para lang magkasya ang mga tao.

500 Days of Summer. *Don't worry, not much spoilers in here.*
"This is a story of boy meets girl. But you should know up front, this is not a love story. "
That line is so true in its essence, and yet, there is much more into it, deeper, more engaging. The more you think this film is too predictable, the more you'll be convinced that it isn't. Definitely not another chick flick, romantic comedy, ala-Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock type of films. Or like teenybopper flicks, where Point A connects to Point B, and then there's Point C...blahblah. Not that typical tearjerker, or anything that has the element of that big surprise twist and all.
The boy, Tom Hansen, grew up believing that he'd never truly be happy until the day he met the one. The girl, Summer Finn, did not share this belief.
So, from the intro voice narration, it's about the time Tom had with Summer, which is around 500 days. And this story doesn't spoon feed you with the usual sequencing of frames. Sometimes, for example, Day#200 will be featured, then the next scene goes back to # 13. And the pace and flow of the story is just right, and it isn't that tough to follow, and swallow at the same time.
Afraid of the "Cheesy" Parts?
"I love her smile. I love her hair. I love her knees. I love how she licks her lips before she talks. I love her heart-shaped birthmark on her neck. I love it when she sleeps. "-Tom
Too Cheesy? Then How about this:
"Just because she's likes the same bizzaro crap you do doesn't mean she's your soul mate. "
Don't be afraid. Because as I'm trying to imply, this movie is breaking down the conventional romantic-comedy film genre. Yes, boy meets girl, they go out, they begin to date, boy falls in love, girl doesn't want to commit, blahblah. That may sound too generic. But then again, it is within the execution of the writers and the director that made this film a visual treat, and a pool of various emotions. This film is brimming with different moods. You'll feel happy, sad, mad, envious, funny, alone, hate, in-love, and everything else.
The character of Tom is your typical hopeless romantic, who'd do anything for love (yes, that did sound like a song.), while Summer's aura is just infecting, and you'd fall in love with her as well, regardless whether you're a chick or a dude. (she's got amazing eyes, and awesome cutesy outfits.)
And the whole film isn't just about the happy things about falling in love and all those cheese.You got it right, it also deals with heartbreaks, disappointments, expectations, hurts, and all the other nasty things about love. So if you're wondering why this film is being well-received by tons of people, because at one point in life, we took the paths where Tom and Summer were probably taking at different points in the film.
***** okay, at this point, you're probably wondering, especially those who haven't seen it:"what the heck is soo different from this film? this guy is just babbling: it is different, it is uber lurve, it is amazing, etc..and nothing is different!" ***** okay, here are some things that made this film truly unique for me personally. (and for those who've seen it, would probably agree with me on this.):
The Musical part!
"The Vagiant" Film Scene (Part vampire, Part giant). lols. The "Penis!" scene. Tom's friends. Tom's boss. The Shower Sex. The Ikea Home Center. The Photo Copy Room Scene. The "Jobs" dialogue. The Elevator Scenes. The Expectation/Reality Scene.(truly heart wrenching)
and many more!
Definitely a great job from the cast and crew. Great portrayal by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel as Tom and Summer respectively. I've also learned that this is the first film for director Marc Webb! So, great applause for his work on this film!

yes. i am still an unregistestered voter. so russee and I went to QC Hall Comelec to enlist and become part of the phenomenon that is bound to happen come may 2010. then, the (un)expected happened. it was tuesday. it was 3 P.M. the sun was still high up. it was my only free time. and then, booom! massive amount of humanity lined up into crooked lines, intertwining with another line, criss-crossing through the road, snaking its way to the door that is labeled as "district 2", with only 1 dude doing all the "verification" stuffs for the 1st step. yes. ratio of comelec guy to hundreds of would be voters, 1:10000. okay, that's way much of O.A. (cuz i dont know hot to count beyond 20) so, i quit. there'll be another day. and i will be back with a vengeance. (and lots of water and snacks) come friday, before that freakin sun rises up and burn my flawed skin.
want to register to vote? here's a sample of that incredible line at the QC Hall, Comelec, lining up for my area in district 2. it was around 3 P.M. (i know, i came too late, but it was my only free time then) And I lined up for an hour, and I barely moved on the line. (There was only 1 small window area just for the 1st step.) I know i sound too whiny, but this system is just too depressing. (will come back and try to come before the sun rises, amp)

Had an interesting week so far, and it isn't over yet. (unless I forget some things...uh huh)
Been quite busy for a while (which is something new for me, lol.) Because I attended the "Dementia Summit" at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza, which was organized byUST, UST Hospital Dept. of Neurology and Psychiatry, and the Dementia Society of the Philippines, last October 22-23, 2009. The event started at around past 8 in the morning, and was scheduled to end at around 9 P.M. both on the said dates.
Sounds like a lengthy event packed with talks, forums, information, and whatnots right? Well, that is true of course. And only fittingly so.
"Dementia is a loss of mental ability severe enough to interfere with normal activities of daily living, lasting more than six months, not present since birth, and not associated with a loss or alteration of consciousness."
"Dementia is well recognized in the developed countries. It is a serious and growing medical, social, and economic problem. It exacts a massive toll in health care costs, disability and lost productivity for both patients and caregivers"

Okay, so there. It is a very interesting topic, and there are tons of info that needs to be learned. And as one speaker said, Filipinos are so into their extended families, esp. Grandparents, thus we need to understand how to treat these problems, like being "ulyanin", "makakalimutin", etc.
(Don't worry, I'm not going to bore you with scientific mumno-jumbo stuffs here, and I'm not an authority to talk about this stuff, hehe)
But prior to that, I did a kamikaze-like mode. Because I came from the night shift on both dates, starting from 10 P.M. until 6 A.M. and the event started at around 9 A.M., and was scheduled to end at around 9 P.M.
Yes, that sounded soo unreal and freakin crazy. But yeah, I managed to survive (for a few hours), to stay half-awake, and half-zzzzz-ing, and tried to listen to the amazing brains and minds of speakers from different parts of the world, the Michael Jordans of this field and expertise, and it was such an experience by just listening to them (and seeing them as well). But we had to leave earlier than expected, for our bodies cannot take the brutal torture of going sleepless while taking in all the massive information inserted into my puny brain. ^^
So, what did I do to manage to stay half-awake? FOOOOOOOOD! Lots and lots of superb, gorgeous, amazing, titillating, overload of food that I will probably not be able to see in my lifetime again!

Over-all, it was a great event, manymany thanks to the organizers, esp. to the hypertoxic, uber awesome Dept. of NeuroPsych, (esp. the residents who were equally sleepless, restless, yet managed to stay toxic and dashing all at the same time!Cheers!)
Oh, and it was still a great experience despite being on zombie mode. (cuz, we got a free pass, ooohyeaaah!)

Today, October 15, 2009, is Blog Action Day. The theme is very much relevant to what is happening all over the world lately: Climate Change.
I think most of us are already aware of the term "Global Warming"(or some experts say we are now in the "Global Cooling"), and "Climate Change". We've seen movies with massive special effects to portray the epic proportions of such event, and most of us dropped jaws when scientists would tell everyone who cares that we are now experiencing the "tip of the iceberg."
As for us here in the Philippines, we experienced the wrath of typhoons with horrific destruction to properties, and the grieving for the loss of human lives.
We must act. As a blogger, this is just one way of action. To add to the growing voice of stopping climate change.
Blog Action Day is an annual event held every October 15 that unites the world’s bloggers in posting about the same issue on the same day with the aim of sparking discussion around an issue of global importance. Blog Action Day 2009 will be one of the largest-ever social change events on the web.

Sure, you won't do much "cure" to the growing problem that affect us all. But you'd rather be a small solution rather than adding up to the pain in the earth's ass.
Don't worry, you don't need to be a tree-hugger, or join the street protests, or whatever reason it is that would make a perfect alibi for you not to do any change. Some solutions are so simple that we are actually capable of "undoing" them, thus helping stop climate change!
And believe me, most of these things were taught in kinder school. (You don't need to be friends with Al Gore.)
EDUCATE YOURSELF
There are hundreds of movies, websites, documentaries that show and tell the effects of climate change. Go and pick your choice and educate yourself. In return, tell a friend, especially a skeptic, and hopefully that person will change his mind.
PLANT SOMETHING!
Plants take CO2, and pump out oxygen. Simple huh? Yes, that simple. Plus, it provides home and food for other forms of life. Plus, it is relaxing for the eyes, adds up to the ambiance, right?
UNPLUG!
For everything else that is not on use, such as tv, stereo, computers, and anything else that has red lights on the power button? They are still using energy. Unplug when not in use. You saved electricity, and reduce energy-related emissions. Same goes for lights in rooms. During daytime, try to reduce the use of artificial light.
MINIMIZE PLASTIC/STYRO USE!
So you love fast foods? Sure, they use disposable cups, plates, etc. Solution? Try to bring your own mug/utensils once in a while. This may not be enough, but each time you do, you prevented adding up wastes to growing landfills (and wherein they still be there after a hundred years!) Same goes for shopping or doing groceries. Go for paper bags (which is the lesser evil), or other reusable bags. Ditch excess plastic bags. And this will send a message to the management to discourage them from using plastic bags.
MINIMIZE BURNING FOSSIL FUELS!
Okay, you love to travel, and you have you own car. But if possible, use public utility vehicles. So it is a hassle and still wanted to use your own car for comfort? Try to carpool. And if you're going to a place that is just a mile or two away, don't put your key into your ignition. Try biking or jogging for a change! Plus, you'll reduce air pollution.
MINIMIZE YOUR GARBAGE.
Got some old gadgets beyond repair? Don't throw them just yet. Go and visit your nearest junk shop, and sell it for a few bucks. For other wastes, if you think it is organic (ex. food leftovers), try to save some, and grow some fertilizers!(if you don't have a garden or a farm, I'm sure you know someone who has one.)For old papers, plastic containers and bottles, if you can't reuse them for other purpose, then sell them to mr. junk man. It's a win-win scenario!
JOIN A GROUP.
There are tons of groups, organizations, that pushes for solutions for climate change. Just search the internet and choose any that interests you.
PARTY!
Yes, party! Next week, on October 24, 350.org is organizing the International Day of Climate Action. Go and find a gathering near your place, and participate, and of course, enjoy!
So, these things may not totally change the world. As I've said in a previous post, we don't need superman to change. WE JUST NEED TO CHANGE. We need to change our ways. We have become irresponsible. But it is never too late for a change.

Fight Climate Change.
As of now, the people in the Philippines, particularly in the Luzon area, we are badly hit by the typhoons Ketsana (Ondoy), and Typhoon Parma (Pepeng). Lives were lost. Properties gone. And all are scarred for life.
Who's to blame? People would normally start finger pointing the culprit. The one who is responsible for this mess. Why can't we blame ourselves? Outrageous? No. All of our actions, and inactions, make us contribute to this state that we are in. This climate change. Let's not debate whether its just a natural phenomenon, or it is still a scientific theory. The point is, it is happening now. And we can do something about it.

Oo, yan ang LSS ko lately twing may happening sa buhay ko na kakaiba, (at kapag sa gabi ang lakad). Muntik pang maudlot dahil sa mga kaganapan netong mga huling nagdaang bagyo. Pero, nairaos din. Hila-hila ko ang partner in crime ko na si russee, ay sinugod namin ang PETA-PHINMA Theater sa may New Manila(likod ng QC Sports Complex, malapit sa St. Lukes.) At hanggang ngayon, may hangover pa rin ako. ohyeah. Asteeg!
Una, ang saya ng pakiramdam ko. Dahil sa October 10, 2009 ay mag 6 months na ang manik makina blog, at nakarating na ito sa Philippine Blog Awards. Mula sa maging isa sa mga nominee, hanggang umabot ng finals. aba'y ayows! Napasama ang manik makina sa humor category, na kung saan ay "punch in the moon" ang manalo, kung saan andun ang "tunaynalalake (Hay!Men!)", "good times manila", "the professional heckler", atbp... mga heavyweights eh! kaya mapasama lang sa listahang ito, feeling pogi nako. lol.
Prom? Graduation?
Ngayon lang ako nakaatend ng awards night. Para siyang graduation, pero sa gabi ginagawa. Parang prom, pero walang sayaw at dika mahihiya kapag wala kang ka date. At syempre, iba-iba ang kasuotan ng mga tao. At ang mas malupit pa bakit mas ok to sa graduation, may pagkaen! wait, MASARAP na pagkain! Ang saraaap ng chow nila, catering talaga. From pasta, to pastries, to cheese fondue! (sorry sa sarap ng paglamon ko, di na ko nakakuha pa ng time para magphoto ng mga handa, hihi). Party talaga!
Pero tahimik lang kami ni russee. Observers lang kami. Bulong dito, bulong doon. Ay, dumating si ano. Ay, sino kaya yung blogger ng ano? Ay, eto pala yung emcee. Ay, teka, bakit bukas zipper ko?
Pero nung magstart na yung event..(sabi 6 start, pero past 8 na..grr the filipino time), magkaiba kami ng upuan ni russee. Sa taas niya, ala orchestra section, at akoy nasa ibaba, kasama ng mga iba pang finalists. Para akong transferee sa ibang school. Dahil sa loob ng 3 taon ng PBA, parang everybody knows everybody. wow. Apir sila dito, yakap doon, papicture sila, group hug, kambyo don.
Kaya, tahimik lang ako at nagtetext kunwari.

Ang isa sa mga emcee ay si Erika Tapalla, na isa ring blogger/model. And ang pinaka host ng gabing iyon ay si RJ Ledesma. Astig! Ang kulit niya, at di biro ang mga banat niya, ang galing.
Though di masyadong organized yung flow ng event, ok lang dahil kahit papano, nairaos din ika nga. Though maraming mga winners ang absent, (sana sa mga present na lang ibinigay, hehe), ay okay pa rin, dahil mga deserving naman ang mga ito.
Isa sa mga fave kong part ay yung speech ni Gang Badoy, president ng Rock Ed Phil. Kung saan tinukoy niya ang responsibilidad, at kakayahan ng mga pinoy bloggers na maging boses, at maging simula ng aksyon sa mga pagbabago, kung saan tayo ay sumasagot sa hamon ng panahon. Ipinunto niya ang naging papel ng mga pinoy sa internet nuong kasagsagan ng bagyong Ondoy, sa tulong ng blogs, twitter, facebook, etc. At ngayong nanalasa rin ang bagyong Pepeng, mas lalong kailangan ng tulong nating lahat.
Iba-iba man ng opinyon, nagkakaisa pa rin ang mga bloggers, na sakto sa tema ng PBA 2009:"One Blogging Nation."
Gayundin ang mensahe ng president ng Phil. Bloggers Inc., na si Mr. Sunido. Na sa mga panahong ito, magtulungan tayo, at wag magkibit balikat.
Andun din syempre yung mga malulupit na mga bloggers, na part ng organizing committee, pati na rin yung mga judges, at syempre kasama yung mga tulad nila mlq3!woot!

well actually, kumbaga sa NBA, ako'y isang bangkong player sa bano na team, at kalaban ko sila Lebron James at Kobe Bryant. kumbaga sa PBA, akoy taga team B, at kalaban ko sila James Yap, Gabe Norwood. kumbaga sa Pinoy Movies, ako yung mga nameless extras laban kina papa John Lloyd at Christopher de Leon. kumbaga sa Hollywood, ako yung supporting actor sa indie film, laban kina Johnny Depp at Brad Pitt.
So, ganun ang feeling. Pero masayang masaya ako na hindi ako nanalo, pramis. Hindi ako bitter no. (defensive?)haha

It may not be much, pero super malaking tulong na ito. and this wont be the last. again, maraming salamat!
the after party
May after party ba sa PBA 2009 awards night? di ko alam. dahil pagkatapos ay umalis na kami. Saan pumunta? Sa after party with my family! Isinabay na ang party bilang despedida ni Kuya Jason, na babalik ng Indonesia, (maski ayaw na ayaw na nya), at naghanda sila para sa pagiging finalist ko!cheesy!hehe.
Ang saya at ang sarap sa pakiramdam na fans ko na rin ang family ko. At masaya akong nalaman na nabasa na rin ng nanay ko ang ginawa ko para sa kanya (eto link), at siya'y naluha sa tuwa.

I have a very close high school friend who died yesterday (Thursday). Her name is PRECIOUS OLALIA, 24 years old. Her wake is at Good Shepherd, Dolores San Fernando Pampanga. Contact Person: (sister) JEAN OLALIA 09228792901.
Dinala nila nung Friday sa St. Lukes, UTI pa daw findings. 119k ang platelet count. They gave her antibiotic den pinauwi pa.
Saturday. Binalik nila sa ER ng St. Lukes, nagdrop na platelets to 62k pero hindi pa din sinalinan ng dugo.
Sunday chaka pa lang nila sinabing dengue. Nilipat sa ICU nung nag-drop to 28k platelets nya. Wala pa din blood transfusion. May mga blood donor naman sila pero sabi sa ICU, not available. So dumiretso sila sa Blood Donor Center, meron naman daw. Ilang beses daw tong nangyari.
Next, naghingi sila pa sana sila sa Red Cross pero di pa din nila nabigyan blood dahil ung doctor ng St. Lukes kulang ang finil-up-an na documents. Wala pa ung blood type.
Nung nirerevive na nila chaka lang nagblood transfusion pero hindi na na-save.

Precious is a sweet, kind, thoughtful and patient person. She is a girl with an angelic face and a big heart. But behind this innocence lies her small ways of showing her playfulness.
Call her Baby, Chus, or simply Precious. She has a good sense of humor which drives everybody happy even in their most gloomy mood. An approachable friend, she is a good listener and the best adviser.
She is fun to be with and she is a person who knocks everybody out with her drop-dead gorgeous smile. God truly blessed us with an angel in her.

im not particularly close to precious personally. she was my classmate when we were in 1st year high school. all i know of her is she is very kind, very quiet, and she smiles all throughout the day. She is a great person.
this incident is still a shock for everyone who knew her. and i only knew of the whole incident this afternoon. this is not right. i am very disappointed as a nurse for this particular tragic ending. this is not how to handle this kind of situation. something needs to be done. let this be the last case of medical irresponsibility.
my prayers and condolences to the family of Precious Olalia. May she rest in peace.
